Find every duplicate
in your crates.
Never lose an edit.
CleanCrate listens to your files and finds duplicates by sound, not filename. It knows your clean, dirty, extended and acapella versions are different songs — and it never deletes anything on its own.
Download for Mac — free betaVersion 0.1.0 · 7.5 MB · Apple Silicon + Intel · macOS 12 or later · Windows build available on request
✓It never deletes on its own
You review everything. Files you keep move to your Keep folder; nothing is ever removed without you clicking it yourself.
✓Your edits are protected
Clean / dirty / extended / acapella / remix versions are detected and locked as "alternate versions" — never counted as duplicates.
✓It respects your Serato
Link Serato, Rekordbox or Traktor (read-only) and CleanCrate warns you before touching any file your crates, cues or playlists use.
Three steps, two minutes
Open the download
Double-click CleanCrate_0.1.0_universal.dmg in your Downloads, then drag CleanCrate into Applications.
First launch
Open CleanCrate from Applications. If your Mac says it can't check the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway. (On older Macs: right-click the app → Open → Open.) You only do this once.
Scan your music
Click Add folders & scan, pick your music folders, then Fingerprint. Big library? Start with one folder — fingerprinting listens to every track and takes time.
Scanned fine, but 0 tracks fingerprinted?
macOS sometimes quarantines the audio engine inside the download. CleanCrate fixes this itself on current versions; if it still shows zero, paste this in Terminal and re-open the app:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/CleanCrate.app
Straight answers
Does it upload my music?
No. Nothing ever leaves your Mac — no uploads, no cloud, no account. It works with Wi-Fi off.
How does it know two files are the same song?
It fingerprints the audio itself and compares how tracks sound. A renamed file or a re-downloaded copy can't hide; a different edit is never mistaken for a duplicate.
Will it mess with my Serato crates?
No. DJ libraries are linked read-only. If a file is used by your crates, cues or playlists, CleanCrate flags it and asks before anything moves.
What does "Keep" do?
Marks the best version as your keeper and moves it into a Keep folder you choose. Every move is logged with the file's original location.
Which Macs does it run on?
Apple Silicon (M1–M4) and Intel, macOS 12 Monterey or later — one universal download.
What does it cost?
The beta is free while we polish it with working DJs. The full release will be a low monthly subscription — beta DJs get founder pricing.
